Chemical Spill Kit

For acids, alkalis, solvents and unidentified liquids. Identify the spill first — then the absorbent, the protective equipment and the safety guidance follow from what it is.

Chemistry is a world of its own

The Chemical Spill Kit resembles no other spill kit. Chemistry contains tens of thousands of compounds and elements grouped into distinct families — acids, alkalis, solvents and many more — each with its own technique for the safest possible handling.

The chemical spill is therefore identified first; only then are the appropriate absorbent, the necessary protective equipment and the safety guidance for that substance determined.

Chemical Spill Kit

A small error can lead to a genuine disaster. Chemical spills demand a very high level of caution, precision and attention.

Intended for

Chemical Spill Kit

The HAZ MED Chemical Spill Kit is one of the most important standard provisions required in laboratories, chemical stores and university laboratories, and must be kept in a clear, open position for immediate access.

It is equally critical in every workshop, industrial laboratory, construction site or medical facility where chemicals are present.

  • Chemical stores
  • University laboratories
  • Workshops and industrial laboratories
  • Construction sites
  • Medical facilities holding chemicals

Contents

The necessary precautions are delivered through the integrated components of the kit:

  • Personal protective equipment chemically resistant gloves, sealed safety goggles with rubber edges, a mask with a carbon filter to purify the air of toxic gases, an apron and protective suit, and durable shoe covers.
  • Absorbent materials for general liquids, water-based chemical spills, or aggressive and unidentified liquids.
  • Absorption and containment aids cylindrical socks to surround the spill, high-absorbency pads, and chemical powders that neutralise the chemical medium to reduce the hazard, plus absorbent granules such as silica gel for organic liquids.
  • Collection tools a scoop and scraper manufactured from non-flammable materials in case of contact with chemicals, which may be accompanied by pH test strips to establish the acidity of the spill and handle it accordingly.
  • Disposal supplies durable puncture-resistant waste bags with strong ties for a secure seal, and warning labels.
